How to get your Port Authorisation Code

What is a PAC Code?
A PAC Code or a PAC is needed when you want to keep your existing mobile number when switching networks. A PAC stands for Port Authorisation Code. If you want to change your network provider but keep your existing mobile phone number, you will need a PAC code from your current network provider.
If I move to another network can I keep my existing mobile number?
You can use your existing number with a new network. This is done by ‘porting' your mobile phone number. Before cancelling your current contract with your network provider, you will need to get your PAC Code from them. Your network provider will then either post your PAC Code to you within two working days or give it to you over the phone. You then give this code to the network you are moving to in order to keep your current number.
Follow these three steps to change your network provider:
1) Complete your existing contract term, or pay the remaining line rental due to the end of the contract period. Check with your existing service provider if you are unsure of your contractual terms.
2) Order your new contract deal once you have got your Port Authorization Code. This can be done online, simply choose the deal that best suits your usage requirements. During the order process you will be asked for your PAC Code. 3) The PAC Code proccess will take up to 7 working days. Your SIM will no longer work once this process is complete and you will be given a new SIM card by your service provider.
Other notes:
- If you have chosen a new phone but are keeping the same network, you cannot 'port' you number. Your current service provider will provide you with an upgrade and the same number.
- If you have not fulfilled your contractual opbligations IE you haven't completed your contract with your network provider you will be unable to 'port' your number. Check your existing terms and conditions with your current service provider to establish when you can change networks.
*Do not cancel your contract with your current network provider until you have your PAC code and you have passed this onto your new network. Your PAC code should also be provided free of charge. If you do cancel your contract without your PAC code, you may be charged a connection fee by your new network provider. Worse still, you may not be able to transfer your number without your PAC code.
